A legendary franchise starts fresh, with all our favorite kombants!
The latest entry into this eternal fighting series is nearly upon us and palms are sweating with anticipation at the prospect of new and exciting ways to kill our friends. Mortal Kombat has been around since the beginning of gaming, even nongamers are familiar with the characters and how the game is played.
What started off as an arcade game has branched off into 26 titles, each adding to the deep lore and structures of the games. That doesn’t even include the film franchise or the Mortal Kombat comic book franchise.
...you have chosen war with a god! - Liu Kang
With this ever expanding storyline and list of characters, some new players may feel lost upon entering the world of Mortal Kombat. But not to worry, Mortal Kombat 1 looks to be taking us back to the roots of the franchise. With some modern tweaks that is.
Following the events of Mortal Kombat 11, this entry will create a brand new universe for the players to explore. This new universe appears to be like an alternate dimension, where small changes have been made to the lore to allow for new stories to take place. Something that is very common to see in the world of comic books.
Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay
This entry into the franchise will bring many of the features that fans have come to expect from Mortal Kombat but also a few things that we haven’t seen before. The biggest change will be the introduction of the Kameo fighters. These fighters will act similarly to companions in RPG games. They will act as non playable characters that the user can tag in to perform special actions.
These actions range from adding some damage to a combo, or even performing their own signature fatality. Outside of this new addition, players will get to explore the different game modes that they have come to love. These include Kombat Towers, story mode, and of course white knuckled online PVP tournaments. Not to mention that this is the most visually stunning Mortal Kombat game to date.
Mortal Kombat 1 MicroTransactions
While this might come as a new element to some fans, MK1 will have an in game store for microtransactions. This game will feature a currency called Dragon Krystals that can be purchased via Kombat Packs. These packs will allow players to purchase things like the new Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage, as well as early access to new characters and Kameo allies.
