Xbox Games Showcase Proves Team Green is Playing to Win

How Microsoft is pulling out the big guns...

The annual Xbox Games Showcase is officially behind us and there were some major announcements this year. We thought it would be a good idea to break down some of the biggest announcements made this year. It may be a good idea to clear your calendar, it’s going to be a busy year for gamers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Kicking off the event was the trailer for Black Ops 6. It was announced that the game will become available on October 25th, 2024. The new Black Ops game will be set in 1991 and will follow a group of rogue military agents fighting against their government.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

This iconic series will be releasing its new entry on November 15th, 2024. A new two minute trailer was released at the event. This sneak peek offered players a glimpse at the gameplay for the upcoming title. This action packed preview shows a ton of promise and may just be what the franchise needs going forward.

Doom: The Dark Ages

Bethesda is dusting off the Doom franchise and transporting players back to the medieval ages. This go around, Doom Guy will be fitted with a spiked shield and a futuristic cannon gun to defeat the mysteries of darkness. Does Doom make sense in this historical setting? No, not really. But never let something like historical accuracy get in the way of having a good time. Doom: The Dark Ages will be released in 2025.

Dragon Age: The Veilgaurd

Gamers received a stylized trailer for the upcoming Dragon Age game at the conference. Although fans are upset about the cartoonish nature of the trailer, it should be noted that Dragon Age: Origins featured a similar trailer. It may be the case that the game will continue the dark fantasy epic that we have all come to enjoy. Dragon Age: The Veilgaurd is set to release in the Fall of 2024.

Age of Mythology: Retold

Old Gamers rejoice! Age of Mythology is finally making a comeback. Unfortunately, we aren’t technically receiving a new game. Instead, the beloved RTS is receiving a complete remaster. But hey, it's still better than trying to play the 2002 version. Age of Mythology will be released on September 4th, 2024.

Fable

The most highly anticipated game of the year, Fable finally got a new trailer. Similar to the previous trailer, we see a slightly goofier heroic tale, this off beat approach perfectly encapsulates what made the franchise so iconic to begin with. Fable will be released in 2025.

Life is Strange: Double exposer

Everyone's favorite mystery simulator is making a comeback on October 29, 2024. This sequel will follow Max after she finds Safi’s dead body. This cozy murder mystery is sure to be just as inspiring and heartbreaking as the entries that came before it.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater

The highly anticipated remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 still does not have a release date set. However, we did receive a new gameplay trailer at the event and it looks amazing. Fans are eager to learn more about the game as they prepare to revisit one of the most iconic franchises in gaming history.

South of Midnight

Anyone who is a fan of folklore needs to check out South of Midnight. This game follows a young black woman named Hazel as she navigates the bayous of the Southern US. The game features a beautiful art style and fast paced combat. South of Midnight will be released in 2025.

We've covered only a few of the great new titles coming out very soon. You can check out more over at IGN's live stream of the event.
